SKULLBASE 2025 About The Conference

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It gives us immense pleasure to invite you to present a brief report on SkullBaseCon 2025, which was successfully conducted from 30th October to 1st November 2025 at The Leela Palace, Chennai. The event was organised by Dr. Suresh Bapu (Organising Chairman), Dr. Sunil Kapilavayi (Organising Secretary), and Dr. Vishwraj Ratha (Treasurer).

The conference witnessed an excellent response with nearly 300 registrations, including 116 faculty members and a large number of delegates from across the country and abroad.

Cadaveric Workshop

The conference commenced with a Cadaveric Workshop on 30th October 2025 attended by 35 participants — 24 hands-on delegates and 11 observers. A total of 14 cadaveric specimens were used, with two participants per specimen, each supervised by an experienced faculty member.

Eight eminent faculty conducted live demonstrations of Endoscopic skull base approaches, followed by Microscopic Anterior Clinoidectomy and Anterior Petrosectomy.
The procedures were transmitted live to the main hall for observers, ensuring wide academic engagement. The workshop was highly appreciated for its systematic conduct, clarity of demonstrations, and academic excellence.

Scientific Sessions

The main conference was held on 31st October 2025 and 1st November 2025, featuring parallel sessions in two halls. The scientific content was of exceptional quality, comprising 80 faculty presentations delivered by leading experts in skull base and neurosurgical practice. A total of 64 delegate presentations were also included, providing a platform for young and aspiring neurosurgeons.

Two prestigious orations were delivered during the conference:

The Presidential Oration by Dr. Hemant Bhartiya, titled “My Life is My Life,” a thought-provoking address on balancing professional and personal life in neurosurgery.

The SBSSI Oration by Prof. Vladimir Benes from Prague, Czech Republic, titled “Keeping it Simple in Skull Base Surgery,” emphasizing the value of simplicity in surgical philosophy and practice.

A special invited lecture by Dr. Mohansankar Sivaprakasam from IIT Madras, on “Whole Brain Imaging at Cellular Resolution,” offered remarkable insights into advanced imaging technologies.

Two interactive sessions—a debate and a panel discussion—added to the academic vibrancy of the event. Each session was creatively titled to reflect its core theme, maintaining audience engagement throughout.
